March marks five years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Education was just one of many areas disrupted by the global health crisis, including students falling behind in their studies and teacher burnout. However, not all students and teachers had the same experience.

Learn4Life recently released its 7th annual State of Education in Metro Atlanta report. The report details the progress made across area districts and the “persistent barriers” that continue to challenge students and educators.

On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Ken Zeff, who serves as the executive director of metro Atlanta education organization Learn4Life, talked with show host Rose Scott about the importance of supporting and investing in students and teachers.

Zeff also discussed some of the key takeaways from the report that explores the following six indicators: kindergarten readiness, third grade reading, eighth grade math proficiency, high school graduation readiness and post-secondary completion.
