A spectacle of gravity-defying dance and aerial arts awaits visitors of the Art Farm at Serenbe. About 40 minutes south of Atlanta, the peaceful location, known for connecting nature with art, is hosting the return of the Paris cirque troupe, Les Farfadais.
The group’s new experience is “Celestial,” which they describe as a transportive journey through outer space. The performances are part of the Art Farm’s “Under the Tent” series and run Oct. 3-6.
Madalynn Mentor is the Art Farm at Serenbe’s executive director, and she joined Managing Producer Kim Drobes on “City Lights” to discuss the upcoming show.
Les Farfadais and Serenbe worked together last year to bring the Celestial show to Serenbe, but according to Mentor, they bring “different artists every time. So you’re not going to see exactly the same troupe that you saw previously. You’ll see some familiar faces and some new faces as well that bring new and, dare I say, gravity defying acts to our tent.”
The show explores concepts that resonate heavily with the ideals of Serenbe, says Mentor, like “living in harmony and at one with your natural surroundings. [Les Farfadais] were very much inspired by those ideals and I think this year they wanted to turn their eyes to the sky to a more whimsical take to other worldly experiences and really reflect that in the acts that they offer for us this year.”
