Little Five Points is a destination for shopping, entertainment and dining. But a local organization says it’s much more than that.

The Little 5 Points Alliance is working to preserve and educate others about the history and character of the neighborhood while bringing community members and businesses together. This weekend, the alliance is honoring individuals and organizations who have made Little Five Points unique, including the late Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, at its third annual “People Make the Place” event.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Lauren Welsh, the executive director of Little 5 Points Alliance, talks with show host Rose Scott about Maynard’s role in revitalizing Little Five Points and the upcoming event.
