According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 389 mass shootings this year, 16 of which happened in Georgia. Those numbers include last week’s shooting at Apalachee High School in Barrow County.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” show host Rose Scott talked with Laura Judge, a volunteer with Moms Demand Action and Monisha Henley, the senior vice president of government affairs at Everytown for Gun Safety, the parent organization of Moms Demand Action.

They spoke about overall gun violence prevention trends, Moms Demand Action’s grassroots advocacy to promote firearm safety and gun violence prevention and what schools across the nation can do to support students and their families. They also discussed how big of an issue gun violence could be in the upcoming election.
