More Road Construction on Tap This Weekend
Road construction is going to cause another weekend of tough going on Atlanta’s highways.
The Downtown Connector is going to be a challenge most of the weekend. The Georgia Department of Transportation has scheduled bridge painting, and that is going to close up to three lanes, northbound, from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Fulton Street.
But there will be a respite. The contractor has agreed to open the lanes three hours before and after the Braves games.
But other work will go on all weekend including bridge work on the Buford-Spring connector. That will close one lane in both directions between Armour Drive and Lindbergh Drive.
Also closed for bridge work will be two eastbound lanes of I-20 from Wesley Chapel Road to Panola Road.
On the top end of I-285, bridge work will require closing of up to three westbound lanes between Roswell Road and Georgia 400.
And if that’s not enough, crews will be striping I-285 in several locations on the north and west sides of town.
