An iconic music festival that’s spanned three decades in Atlanta is — in the words of its promoters — “on hiatus” until 2024.

Music Midtown posted the announcement Wednesday morning on social media.

The post reads: “After producing legendary festivals over the past three decades that drew music fans from across the globe, we want to share that Music Midtown is going on hiatus this year.”

The post also encourages fans to support live music in the city.

Mara Davis is a longtime Atlanta music promoter. She says the announcement comes as no surprise. “While Music Midtown had many, many iconic years, I think that this is partly just a sign of the times,” said Davis.

Music Midtown did not indicate whether the pause is permanent or when the festival might return.
