National Black Arts Festival Board Chair Says Changes Are Coming To Save Organization
This year the Atlanta based National Black Arts Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary.
It’s been called the largest celebration of the arts with an emphasis on African and African American dance, film, literature, music, theater and the visual arts.
But over the last few years a decline in sponsorships, donations and ongoing leadership changes are forcing the board of directors to overhaul the organization.
Newly named board chair Sonya Halpern sat down with WABE’s Rose Scott to talk about the future of the National Black Arts Festival.
The conversation begins with Halpern talking about why she’s ready to help lead the organization’s business model.
This is an extended interview from the broadcast version.
