Data suggests Black travelers generate billions of dollars for domestic and international economies. However, many business owners of color in the tourism industry say it’s a challenge to access those dollars and get the opportunity to host tourists and events.

Jason Dunn, the executive director of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (NCBMP), says there needs to be a collaborative effort to support business owners of color in the tourism industry.

On Monday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Dunn talked with host Rose Scott about key takeaways from NCBMP’s 40th annual conference in Atlanta.

He also spoke about a nationwide effort to diversify the tourism industry for travelers and business owners.
