Rhodes Bakery, located on the boundary of Atlanta’s Morningside Neighborhood and Cheshire Bridge Road corridor, operated for almost 70 years before closing in late 2021.

The property was purchased by the owner of the neighboring adult business, Tokyo Valentino, with the intention of opening a spa.

However, the local neighborhood associations have expressed their opposition to the project during a city zoning hearing and via an online Change.org petition.

Don Campbell, president of the Morningside Lenox Park Association, voiced the neighborhood’s concerns in an interview with WABE’s “All Things Considered.”

On the other side is Michael Morrison, who acknowledged he is associated with the proposed “BathHaus” spa project but denies being the owner.

He says the establishment will be an “elite, high-end” spa and he’s puzzled by the neighborhood’s objections and was asked about the reason for opening a spa.
