A hypnotic optical phenomenon greets visitors and residents at Brookhaven’s Porter on Peachtree Complex. Renowned sculptor Allison Armour created “The Eye”, a stainless steel eye-shaped portal on the complex’s square, which was unveiled this summer.

Armor has said her work is designed to reflect beauty without judgment and recently joined “City Lights” producer Summer Evans to discuss the incredible installation.

“It reflects the world back at you, but it gives you an entirely different perspective than what you ordinarily see,” says Armour about the portal. “We get so much information with our eyes… it’s forcing you to see things in a new light.”

The sculpture is about six feet tall, and it’s made from marine grade mirror polished stainless steel, intended to withstand the elements for years to come. It also has a sister sculpture, located on the campus of University of South Florida.

The sculpture is currently open to the public, with more information here.
