New CEO of John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation talks continuing the vision
The late Congressman John Lewis and his wife, Lillian Miles Lewis, dedicated their lives to fighting against discrimination and advocating for equal rights for all people.
The Lewises were passionate about civic engagement and building the “beloved community.”
Lewis, who represented Georgia’s 5th Congressional District from 1987 until his death in 2020, created the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation to continue the Lewises’ vision and values on purposeful living.
The foundation recently announced Detria Austin Everson as its new CEO. On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” the veteran nonprofit leader talked with show host Rose Scott about her new role and how the foundation will continue to amplify the work of the Lewises. Austin Everson also talked about the importance of inspiring, educating and training the next generation to lead.
