Atlanta-based rapper 2 Chainz’s pink Trap House is soon to be no more … or at least not pink.

The house on Howell Mill Road quickly became a popular spot once 2 Chainz rented it and painted it pink, with the word “trap” on the front early last month.
Every day, people from around the country visit the Trap House to take pictures of it.
“Oh, I love it. I just came out here, and I said, ‘Let me go get some pictures!’ I mean, it’s just here for people to congregate, and it’s great marketing for him. So, it’s cute!” says Kelli Jones, who owns a salon in Buckhead.
Owners of local businesses all agree that it’s a great marketing ploy and serves as free publicity for their businesses. But they say the popularity of this pop-up landmark has created a nuisance in parking, traffic and trash.
Niesha Green, who works for Sweet Samba, a spa next door, says when the Trap House first opened, hardly anyone came to visit. Now, she says almost 1,000 people visit it every day.
“And they just kinda hang out and take pictures, and, you know, do their thing. But they pull up and park, and they’re not even solicitors of ours. And then they get kinda angry when you ask them to move!” Green says.
Tyler Thakh, who works at Express Frames across the street from the house, says he’s had a problem with parking, too, and it has affected business.
“Well, honestly, it’s been slowed down just because of the people that are across there. Etiquette isn’t very existent there. So, they come over here, and they kinda trash up the place and our parking lot,” Thakh says.
One of the businesses across the street from the house hired security to protect its parking spaces.
“They just had a lot of people parking here and a little trash on the ground. They didn’t want their property defaced and people leaving trash around here,” says Ernest Jackson, of ATSI Security.
Business owners also say that they didn’t know the Trap House was coming to their neighborhood. They say it just popped up one day in Atlanta’s Berkeley Park neighborhood, which is already heavily trafficked.
Because of its popularity, the landlord, Cartel Properties, says it was talking to 2 Chainz about the possibility of physically moving the house to a different location with more space for tourists.
But that’s not happening.
Instead, the house will get repainted white and will be up for lease again.
