New novel 'The Fun Widow's Book Tour' explores art, grief and rewriting one's own story
Mia Macher is the protagonist in Zoe Fishman’s new novel “The Fun Widow’s Book Tour.” The character is a novelist and, like her creator, became a widow after her husband died suddenly in his early 40s, leaving her with two darling young children.
Mia has written a memoir, and her book tour becomes a travel to self-discovery. In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks with the real-life award-winning novelist about the book.
“The pandemic is a metaphor for grief itself. You don’t see it coming, but now all of a sudden, there it is, and now what are you going to do,” Fishman says.
