South Fulton’s newest mayor was sworn into office this week, becoming the second leader to oversee the city since it was incorporated in 2017.

On Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look,” South Fulton Mayor khalid kamau talked with program host Rose Scott about his transition from being a council member to becoming mayor of the fifth-most populated city in Georgia.

kamau further discussed allowing the city council, state representatives and other local leaders time to adjust to having a new mayor.

kamau also discussed creating a transition commission, reviewing the city’s charter, increasing economic mobility for South Fulton residents and his first 100 days in office.

“I think any mayor has the right to come in and set an administration that comports with their vision and the vision of the voters who sent them,” kamau said.
