Three women are running for the newly drawn 7th Congressional District on the Democratic side: incumbent Carolyn Bordeaux, U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath — who currently represents the 6th District — and state Rep. Donna McLeod.

Under the new maps, McBath’s district is heavily Republican. She’s now challenging Bordeaux for the strongly Democratic seventh.

The two have clashed over McBath’s decision to run for a district already represented by a Democrat. Bordeaux’s campaign ads say McBath is abandoning her district to the GOP and the National Rifle Association by not trying to win the sixth again.

McBath — whose son was shot and killed in 2012 — responded saying Bordeaux’s attacks were an insult to her and every person who has worked to end gun violence.
