Oregon Political Reporter Shares How His State Moved To Entirely Mail-In Voting

Early, in-person voting is now underway in Georgia and many other states across the country.
Because of the pandemic, state and local officials are urging more Georgians to consider voting by mail.
The vote-by-mail system is still a relatively new concept for many Georgia voters, poll workers and elected officials.
So far, 675,000 Georgians have returned their absentee ballots. That’s only about 40% of the ballots requested.
However, in other states, this system is nothing new.
Oregon was the first state to move to an entirely vote-by-mail voting system.
To gain a better understanding of how their system works, “Closer Look” host Rose Scott spoke with Jeff Mapes, the senior political reporter at Oregon Public Broadcasting, on Monday’s edition of the show.
