At the High Museum, the Woodruff Arts Center’s outdoor piazza often provides visitors with the first glimpse of the museum’s wonders. The Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza welcomes a brand-new sculptural installation now (on July 12) brought to us by Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis.

The work is called “Panorama,” a sculptural experience in color, light and reflection that visitors can move through and manipulate. The High Museum’s decorative arts and design curator, Monica Obniski, joined host Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” to discuss the new exhibition.

“Visitors will encounter… these four monumental pillars of glass – this glass changes color… the sheets of glass are colored deep orange, and they change to… transparent,” said Obniski when describing the sculptural work of Marcelis as a fully immersive installation. “The most exciting thing about these monumental pillars is that they actually move!”
