Petite Violette celebrates 50 years in Atlanta
The Atlanta-area restaurant Petite Violette is celebrating its 50th year in business with a month-long schedule of festivities. Started in 1974 by German emigrés Wolfgang Gropp and Helmut Bittl, the restaurant keeps beloved culinary classics alive with French and Continental fine dining, serving mainstays like coq au vin, beef Wellington and rack of lamb.
Starting Thursday, Aug. 1, and throughout the month of August, guests are invited to an anniversary party, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, a charity dinner and more, including special menus and deals.
Co-owners Anthony Gropp and Michael Gropp joined host Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” to discuss their history with the restaurant and what to expect with this month’s festivities.
Although Petite Violette brings variety to their tables quite regularly, their 50th celebration will see a few events meant to draw in the public in fun and accessible ways. Anthony Gropp shared with Reitzes that the restaurant will host a free cooking demonstration and a wine tasting on Friday, Aug. 9, and a 50th Anniversary Party on Aug. 18.
The party will include live music, drinks and $19.74 buffet and is RSVP only! On Sept. 7, Petite Violette will also host a fundraiser for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to benefit the hospital.
