That's because Tiger Woods needs to finish in the top 70 in order to play through the weekend.

Woods shot a 77 and that's his worst first round score ever at the PGA championship.

The world's top golfers are in Johns Creek for this year's PGA championship.

Crowds arrived early at the Atlanta Athletic Club as players like Tiger Woods tee'd off early this morning.

WABE's Rose Scott reports this may be the last time fans get a chance to see the former number one golfer up close—if he doesn't make the cut.If he's able to rebound Friday and it would take an extraordinary effort, Woods could get an opportunity to come back to Atlanta.

“you know it would be tough, just because he's kind of fighting himself with this swing change that's going on”

Oneda Castillo is a professional golf teaching pro.

She says combine that with a tough course and Wood's current slump and it could be too to overcome but she adds…

“long as he's out there and he's saying he's healthy, you can't really ever turn your back on a Tiger Woods”

Woods is 14 shots back from the leader.

There's another reason fans maybe pulling for Tiger Woods.

He needs the points to make run a for the PGA TOUR Playoffs. That could lead to playing in the Tour Championship takes place next month at Eastlake Golf club.
