Atlantans will select their next mayor when they head to the polls on Dec. 5. After the Nov. 7 general election that featured nearly a dozen candidates, Keisha Lance Bottoms and Mary Norwood made it to the runoff.
On Thursday, Nov. 16, the candidates met for a debate hosted by Public Broadcasting Atlanta and the Atlanta Press Club.
In the general election, Bottoms got 27 percent of the vote, while Norwood got 21 percent.
However, not all voters are pleased with their options for who will become Atlanta’s next mayor. In the weeks leading up to the runoff election, Norwood and Bottoms will vie for the support of voters who chose a different candidate on Nov. 7, especially the large percentage of voters who cast ballots for Cathy Woolard, who came in third.
