Friday on “City Lights with Lois Reitzes”:
- 2:01: Lois Reitzes sits down with award-winning journalist, editor and author Jim Auchmutey about his latest book “Smokelore: A Short History Of Barbecue In America.” Auchmutey will speak about his book at the Carter Center on June 25.
- 22:21: Kiki Wilson, the executive producer behind “Robert Shaw – Man Of Many Voices,” speaks with Reitzes about the film about the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s former conductor. The film will air on ATLPBA June 21 at 10 PM.
- 35:33: Maira Kalman published the children’s book “Max Makes A Million” in 1990. The story follows Max, a beatnik dog living in Manhattan, reading poems and dreaming of going to Paris. The story has been adapted into a play and is being directed by Yale professor Liz Diamond at the Alliance Theatre. In addition, “The Pursuit of Everything,” an exhibition featuring the works of Kalman, is on view at the High Museum through Sept. 15. Reitzes talks with Kalman and Diamond about the book and the play.
