Closer Look: Fulton County DA Paul Howard; GA Film Industry Workers Talk Abortion Law

June 3, 2019

Monday on “Closer Look with Rose Scott”:

  • 0:00: Rose Scott recently sat down with Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard at his office for a conversation about some of his most high-profile cases, including the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal and the case of Jamarion Robinson, who was reportedly shot 76 times by members of a police task force. District Attorney Howard also shares his approach to legal cases following the passage of Georgia’s new abortion law.
  • 30:03: After Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed the state’s latest abortion law, which bans the procedure around six weeks into a pregnancy, some Hollywood studios and actors, have proposed boycotting the state. Companies such as Netflix, Disney and Warner Media have all said the anti-abortion law could affect the way they do business in Georgia.
  • Today, we’ll hear from a roundtable of current film industry workers who will share their perspectives on the law and the potential boycotts. Our roundtable includes Edward Adams, an award-winning writer and member of the African-American Film Critics Association (AAFCA); Heather Hutton, director, producer and owner of Touch and Go Productions; Ginger Tontaveetong, executive president of nonprofit animation society Asifa-South; Greg Waddle a local grip for film productions; and Joseph Wheeler, film and television actor.
