President Of The Georgia Nurses Association Encourages All Nurses To Get Vaccinated
The top leader of Georgia’s largest association for registered nurses says he encourages nurses, all health care workers and the general public to get vaccinated as COVID cases increase due to the spread of the Delta variant.
“I really think doing the right thing for us, as nurses, to make sure the patients that we are taking care of are protected and the community is protected,” said Richard Lamphier, who serves as the president of the Georgia Nurses Association.
Lampier, a guest on Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” talked with show host Rose Scott about a recent study that revealed that 25% of health care workers are not vaccinated and explained why some nurses in Georgia are hesitant about getting vaccinated.
Lampier said that he knows a few health care workers and nurses who have not been vaccinated—but overall the majority of them have taken the vaccine.
“We know it’s working because the vaccinated nurses aren’t getting sick,” said Lampier.
He further explained why permanent approval of a COVID-19 vaccine from the US Food and Drug Administration could be the solution to getting more people vaccinated.
