Review Board to repost top job
The Atlanta Citizen Review Board is back to square one.
The group known for investigating alleged police misconduct had planned to offer its executive director position to Holly Wiseman this week. But Wednesday night, the board narrowly decided to repost the position.
Concerns about an appearance of impropriety fueled the change of direction. This goes back to January when the board first posted the position. It was open for 4 days. During that period, more than 100 people applied. After that, the board decided to reopen the position for 1 day. 14 people applied on that day. One of them was Holly Wiseman who was selected as executive director last week by a 6 to 4 vote.
Board member Maceo Williams told WABE the process was flawed from the beginning. But, board chair Paul Bartels told WABE Atlanta city attorneys said the decision to reopen the position after it was closed didn’t violate any law, policy or regulation.
It’s unclear when the executive director position will be reopened again. When it is, it will be open for 5 days and all original applicants will be asked to reapply.
