Autism Speaks advocate Katie Carr said she got emotional as she watched her son, Matthew, smile and take photos with Santa this year. She says Mathew, who is on the spectrum, felt appreciated and valued.
Carr and her son are one of many families across the country who say they’re grateful for a partnership between Autism Speaks and Cherry Hill Programs for their Santa Cares program. The organizations are hosting sensory-friendly visits with Santa Claus at nine malls in Georgia and across the country.
On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Carr and Chris Landtroop, the vice president of marketing and communications for Cherry Hill Programs, talked with host Rose Scott about the Carrs’ recent visit with Santa and the importance of having inclusive holiday experiences.
