At Signia by Hilton Atlanta, one of the city’s biggest new hotel developments, the creativity of our community shows on every wall. The hotel designed its public space with the experience of a gallery in mind, focusing on the art of local artists as well as national and international creators with strong ties to the region.

The Art of Signia” is a permanent collection on view for casual visitors and guests alike.

Curation for the collection began in 2018 when plans for the hotel were finalized and a collaborative team of designers, architects, the Hilton team and the Georgia World Congress Center came together to select artworks from across the southeast, shared Sally Faulkner, principal at Faulkner + Locke, the design firm that helped bring the collection to life.

Faulkner recently joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to discuss the development.

The Signia team commissioned multiple pieces of artwork to complete the collection, including a gigantic installation that sits on top of the lobby itself, created by Georgia Tech architecture professor Tristan Al Haddad.

According to Faulkner, the piece is “based on the shape of a crepe myrtle tree… its branches go out and then come back together and hang directly above you” as you walk into the lobby. The Signia Collection includes over 70 original works of art in the hotel’s public areas, covering about 40 artists from Atlanta and all over the southeast.

“We wanted to really highlight all the different medias” says Faulkner, including basket weaving, ceramics, painting, textiles and more. More on the Signia hotel and collection can be found here.
