The beloved Bay Area Sons Of Soul Tony! Toni! Toné! are back with their long-awaited “Just Me and You” tour with original members: brothers Raphael Saadiq and D’Wayne Wiggins and cousin Timothy Christian Riley.
This celebrated family reunion comes after a 20-plus-year hiatus. The platinum-selling R&B super-band consistently topped Billboard charts from their debut album, “Who?” in 1988, up until their fourth and final album, “House of Music,” in 1996, spawning several #1 R&B hits like “It Never Rains (In Southern California),” “Feels Good,” “The Blues” and “Whatever You Want.”
The group sold millions of records before splitting in 1996. After the split, the group’s front man, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Raphael Saddiq was briefly a member of the group Lucy Pearl from 1999 to 2001 before going solo, releasing five albums between 2002 and 2019.
The reunited trio are currently on a 25-city tour, and their Atlanta stop is on Oct. 22 at the Fox Theater. In this interview, the original members Raphael, D’Wayne and Timothy spoke with “City Lights” producer Jeannine Etter about the tour, their career and the group’s reunion.
“When they see this energy together, they are going to understand why ‘Tony! Toni! Toné!’ is more than just a band. It’s another energy,” Wiggins said.
