On City Lights’ series “Speaking of Music,” local musicians share work and stories in their own voices. In today’s segment, we feature experimental hip-hop artist Michael Myerz.

Myerz started making rap music in the sixth grade. “My friends were super encouraging, so I kept on doing it. Which then led to me recording an album about a year later in my parents basement… Next thing I knew, everyone in my town knew me as The Rapping Kid,” says Myerz.

The musical artist is working on a documentary and new album slated for October, the latter of which will be his 32nd release. More on Michael Myerz and his upcoming album, TV Dinner, can be found at his Bandcamp.
