Jeremy Ray is a mixed-media artist in Atlanta. His works span such diverse expressions as painting, drawing, design, typography, screen printing and linocut printing. He’s also a multi-instrumentalist and has performed with “countless” bands in Georgia and South Carolina.
Inspiration, for Ray, is unpredictable and everywhere. “I think it comes when it comes,” he says. “It just comes from my surroundings, my family, my friends; also music and words.” He’s been a resident of Atlanta since 2007, and considers it a natural choice.
“Not only has Atlanta influenced my art, it’s influenced my entire existence … If I want to see new art, I just get in my car and I drive with my eyes open,” says Ray. His own murals have graced the city’s walls since his arrival, exhibiting a bright, dynamic style informed by graffiti and evoking a sense of movement, often populated by creatures and landscapes from natural and unnatural worlds.
