Sachi Rome is a multi-disciplinary visual artist in Atlanta, specializing in painting and mural work. She also creates prints, mixed media and sculptures.
For Rome, art-making addresses more than just her creative impulses; it’s an act of resistance. She feels it helps to “restore the spirit and emotions of generations of people who’ve been systematically oppressed.”
Rome draws inspiration from books, especially the writing of Octavia Butler, and an instinct toward world-building that informs the storytelling aspects of her work.
She feels Atlanta’s “in the middle of a Renaissance right now in fine arts” and cites among her favorite galleries Spalding Nix, September Gray and ZuCot.
Her work is now on view at the Hapeville Depot Museum in a solo exhibition, “Stardust and Red Clay.” Her Instagram is @sachistudioart, and more of her art can be found at sachistudioart.com.
