The Southern Poverty Law Center recently released its annual report that tracks hate groups and antigovernment activity.

The report titled Year in Hate & Extremism 2022 reveals how hate groups have shifted their tactics following the January 6th insurrection. According to the nonprofit, the groups intentionally target people from the LGBTQ+ community, Jewish people, and people of color at the community level, such as schools.

The report also reveals that out of the 1,225 active hate and antigovernment extremist groups across the country, 24 groups are here in Georgia.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Margaret Huang, the president and CEO of the Southern Poverty Law Center and SPLC Action Fund, talked with host Rose Scott about the report and SPLC’s policy recommendations to counter hate and extremism.
