An Atlanta contemporary dance company turns 10 this year. It’s called Staibdance and is headed by Artistic Director George Staib, who is also on the dance faculty at Emory University.
“I find there is so much life and energy in that which is spontaneous,” Staib said in an interview with Lois Reitzes. “Of course we rehearse, and we work to cultivate feelings. However, the exciting thing is to see dancers feel empowered to make decisions in the moment.”
This weekend, they will celebrate with a retrospective, reimagining work they have performed over the last 10 years. Those performances, titled “X,” are this weekend at 7 and 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Emory University’s Performing Arts Studio.
