State’s Economy Improving, but Programs Still Face Cuts: A View from Analyst Alan Essig
A week ago, Republican Georgia Governor Nathan Deal delivered his 2014 State of the State message, in which he talked about a warming state economy.
But that by itself won’t end the funding cuts to important state programs, according to a former budget expert in Democratic state administrations.
Alan Essig is now the executive director of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, which is releasing a series of detailed reports on the state’s spending challenges. Essig spoke with WABE’s Denis O’Hayer.
