Atlanta tennis fans are gearing up for the BB&T Atlanta Open this weekend, which draws hundreds of fans and some of the top professional players.
A local favorite is Atlanta-based professional tennis star Donald Young. Young was once the No. 1 junior player in the world. He made it to the fourth round of the U.S. Open in 2011.
Now he’s an 11-year veteran with a career-high ranking of No. 38 in the world, according to the Association of Tennis Professionals.
Young stopped by the WABE studios for a talk with Rose Scott and Denis O’Hayer recently about the satisfactions and challenges of trying to reach the top of men’s professional tennis.
