When Stephen Law was a young boy, growing up in Medan, Indonesia, he had a dream of one day becoming a doctor.
He wrote a story about his dream, which was published in the local newspaper.
Now, over 60 years later, Stephen speaks — virtually — with his daughter, Karen, about his childhood and the odds of that dream coming true.
This story was produced locally for WABE by Brenda Ford and recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center. You can book a time to speak with a loved one using StoryCorps Virtual. This interview is part of the Tapestry of Voices Collection through StoryCorps’ American Pathways initiative.
