Dragon Con 2024 wrapped up on Monday, tallying more than 70,000 attendees, including tens of thousands of cosplayers. If you were anywhere near downtown Atlanta this past weekend, you saw them. Heroes, villains and a plethora of pop-culture icons flooded our streets and convention hotels.

But when a cosplayer’s costume needs an immediate repair, the real heroes of Dragon Con are the Cosplay Medics. “City Lights” Managing Producer Kim Drobes recently explored this tight-knit community to understand their role at the convention.

The Cosplay Medics meet up throughout the convention, swapping supplies, tips and stories that keep each of them engaged and excited to help out every day. Cosplay Medic Vaughn Linscott shared with Drobes that he keeps a “roll of duct tape, some safety pins, super glue” on hand at all times, ensuring that other cosplayers at the convention have support when they encounter unexpected costume issues.

If you are interested in learning more about what the Cosplay Medics do or getting involved, more information can be found on their Facebook group, at facebook.com/groups/CosplayMedics/.
