The Atlanta art community revs its engine for the third year running with Atlanta Art Week, inviting an internationally networked community of galleries, patrons, collectors, artists and art industry professionals to come together for special art-related events all over the city.

Taking place Sept. 30 – Oct. 6, Atlanta Art Week will feature panel discussions, art auctions, guided private collection tours and gallery special events.

The week is a sprawling affair that encompasses many of Atlanta’s celebrated art institutions and individuals, started originally by writer, art advisor and historian Kendra Walker. Her work as an art advisor brought her into the orbit of many major art and commercial institutions in the Atlanta area, allowing her to pull together disparate and even diametrically opposed elements to create a cohesive, large-scale event.

Walker recently joined Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” to discuss Atlanta Art Week, telling Reitzes that Atlanta’s special sauce lies in “the intentionality behind putting people first and developing genuine relationships that transfers across all facets of the Atlanta art community.”
