Opera singer Timothy Miller has become a staple at the Atlanta Braves home games on Sunday evenings.

He always wears a tuxedo and often a baseball boutonniere while performing “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch. “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes sat down with Timothy to discuss his reign at SunTrust Park.

Miller finished his undergrad degree at Morehouse College in 2003. In his time there, he worked his way to the front as the soloist tenor in the Morehouse Glee Club. He now teaches at his alma mater as the assistant professor of Voice and Music. Miller has performed with many extraordinary organizations such as the Atlanta Opera, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and numerous others (both nationally and internationally).

He said he is most often recognized for his performances at the ballpark, rather than at the symphony halls.

“The same sound I still strive to make today, is the same sound I heard at Morehouse, the same sound I heard getting my master’s degree in New York. It’s a sound that moved me and spoke to my soul and it’s a sound I hope to share with others,” Miller said.

He has since extended his talents beyond the stage and into the studio. He has worked with Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and a few other projects that are currently underway. Miller’s next performance will be at the Church of the Apostles off of Northside Parkway on June 30 for their “Patriotic Service.”
