Tobie Grant Manor to be Demolished

DeKalb Housing Authority

Unincorporated DeKalb County’s last public housing project is slated for the wrecking ball.

Tobie Grant Manor, in Scottdale, was built in 1966.

The DeKalb Housing Authority is working now to put together funding to replace it with a mixed-income complex in hopes of beginning construction in 2014.

DeKalb Housing Authority spokesperson Paula Gwynn Grant says the authority is already working on a relocation plan, saying, and “We’re making sure in the relocation process that we work with every single family. No one will be out on their own without assistance from us.”

Right now, Tobie Grant Manor has 200 units. The new complex will have 452 units plus more than 70 houses to be sold at market rate.
