Top Staffers In Gingrey Senate Campaign Resign
U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, a Republican from Marietta, is one of several candidates running to fill the seat of Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is set to retire next year.
This week, four top staffers for Gingrey’s Senate campaign resigned, citing disagreements on strategy.
The departures include Gingrey’s campaign manager, political director, and grassroots coordinator.
According to the Daily Caller website, the staffers said differences of opinion couldn’t be overcome. Former political director David Allen said frustration had been growing over the “vision of how the campaign needs to run, vision on how the campaign needs to execute, resource allocation discussions.”
In a written statement, Gingrey thanked the staffers for helping get the campaign off the ground and said he looks forward to the next phase of the race.
He added he remains committed to a campaign pledge that if he fails to repeal the President’s health reform law in his first Senate term, he won’t seek reelection.
