Today the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children will begin a week's long training on child prostitution.

As WABE's Rose Scott reports it's especially helpful for authorities who first come in contact with exploited kids.

Peter Banks knows all too well the plight of a child forced into prostitution:

((I actually had what we call an ah-ha moment when these two officers about 2 in the morning brought in this young child, to look at everything but her face she liked like an adult—when I looked at her face you saw just a child a cherub))

Banks is the director of training and research for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children he says providing insight and guidance is critical for authorities and advocates.

“they're not criminals they're victims and we need to start looking at as victims and try and identify them quicker so that we can learn about the type of kids being prostituted”

Law officials from other states and Canada will also be attending the training will take place in Norcross.
