Trumpeter Joe Gransden's 'Jazz Milestones' concert series kicks off with tribute to Sinatra in Roswell
A modern-day Atlanta-based jazz icon, Joe Gransden, is keeping the classics alive in a new seasonal concert series in the city of Roswell, where Joe and his family recently relocated.
The “Jazz Milestones” concerts will kick off Oct. 1 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center with the installment “Sinatra and Friends.” Joe’s assembled a 17-piece big band to accompany his masterful trumpet and vocal work. In this interview, the bandleader extraordinaire joins “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk more about the “Jazz Milestones” series.
“Frank Sinatra was very lucky in that he found the perfect career at a very, very early age. He was just meant to be this effortless singer of the Great American Songbook,” Gransden said.
