Twinkies Are Coming Back, Manufactured in Georgia

If you’re just about out of your stash of Twinkies, take heart: they’re on their way back to the market.

And some of those Twinkies are going to be made right here in Georgia.

Hostess has a new owner, and it is re-opening four former baking plants including one in Columbus.

Mike Cramer is with one of the companies investing in the new Hostess. He says they will hire 300 workers at the Columbus plant. Cramer says they chose it because of its size and Southeast location. “We wanted to pick plants that we could likely expand in the future, and Columbus was one,” he said.   An audio version of this story

Columbus Chamber President Mike Gaymon couldn’t be happier, saying, “Twinkies is back, and the world is a better place.”

Ho-Hos, Ding Dongs, Cup Cakes, and Donettes are coming back as well, and they should all be back on store shelves by the end of July.
