Two National Product Recalls Affect Georgians

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning patients with diabetes about the recall of 62 million glucose test strips used to measure blood sugar levels.

Nova Diabetes Care discovered that some of the strips can show incorrect readings.

The strips covered by the recall are marketed under the brand names Nova Max Blood Glucose Test Strips and Nova Max Plus Glucose Meter Kits.

The recall affects certain lots of the strips distributed in the U.S. and several other countries.

The FDA says the strips are contaminated with a chemical used in the manufacturing process which could cause the strips to show incorrect, abnormally high readings. The affected lot numbers of the products are at Nova Care’s website.

In a second recall, a Kansas company has voluntarily recalled ground beef products that were distributed nationwide due to possible E. coli contamination.

The National Beef Packing Company says the affected products were sold in 10 lb. packages. The affected brand names and lot numbers are:
