In this installment of “Valerie Jackson In Conversation,” we talk with the founder of Atlanta’s True Colors Theater, Kenny Leon, who is also the Tony award-winning director of A Raisin in the Sun.
This spring, Leon is directing the Broadway revival of “Children of a Lesser God“ at Studio 54 and the upcoming series on Fox Television, “The Cotton Club.” His directing credits include live TV performances of Hairspray and The Wiz. He talks about the differences between working in TV, film and theatre.
“With theatre, the audience is breathing the same air as the performer, and you feel a more visceral connection to what’s happening on stage. You feel like you can stop it. You feel that you have an impact; you have an effect on what’s happening on stage.”
