The legendary tales of Vikings have survived centuries beyond their golden age. A new exhibition at Fernbank Museum aims to shed new light on the ancient civilization, dispelling long-held stereotypes of raiders and pillagers.

Vikings: Warriors of the Sea,” is on view through Jan. 1, and reveals Vikings not only as warriors but also innovators, jewelers and farmers. In this interview, Bobbi Hohmann, vice president of education at Fernbank Museum,  joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk more about the exhibit.

“There are some pieces that have Odin representation, Thor representation and other mythological beings — there’s a little something for everybody,” Hohmann says.

Fernbank’s newest exhibition, “Vikings: Warriors of the Sea,” is on view through Jan. 1. Additionally, this Saturday, Fernbank opens “Winter Wonderland: Celebrations & Traditions Around the World.” The exhibit highlights diverse seasonal cultural celebrations through arts, crafts, symbols and ornamental displays.

More information about both exhibitions is available here.
