#1. A recent chemical plant fire took place in which Georgia city?
It’s Conyers.
On Sunday, a BioLab chemical plant in Conyers caught fire, and the small fire on the roof caused the sprinkler system to malfunction, dousing the water-reactive chemicals inside the building. Rockdale County issued several shelter-in-place orders, and nearby residents there and in metro Atlanta reported smelling chlorine in the air and experiencing symptoms.
Several lawmakers and advocates held a press conference Thursday to demand that Georgia shut down the Conyers BioLab facility, citing the business’ track record of breaking environmental regulations.
