Walmart to Add Vaccine Kiosks
Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, sees growth opportunities in healthcare services offered in-store.
Starting Monday and going through mid-November, the Arkansas-based retail giant has plans to offer vaccinations at 2,700 US stores.
Some retail pharmacies, like Walgreens and CVS, already provide some immunizations.
But through a network of temporary vaccine kiosks, Walmart will offer 10 vaccinations recommended as essential by the CDC.
That includes everything from Hepatitis to Meningitis, although specific immunizations will vary by store.
As far as price, the chain hasn’t released specifics—only that cash prices will be about 37% lower than competitors.
Walmart previously made healthcare news in 2006 when it began offering $4 generic prescriptions.
