Watch Live: Jimmy Carter motorcade travels through Plains, Georgia, for the final time

Six days of memorial tributes to former President Jimmy Carter will conclude on Thursday starting with a state funeral in Washington attended by all of Carter’s living successors and ending with a private ceremony back in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.

The state funeral took place at 10 a.m. at the Washington National Cathedral.

Carter and his family will then travel back to Georgia for a private service at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.



After the service around 4:45 p.m., the motorcade will travel through downtown Plains, where the public is invited to line the route. The motorcade will arrive at the Carter residence for a private interment, preceded by a Navy flyover.

That will conclude the funeral services for former President Carter.
