Water Pumping Station

Completed in 1893, the Chattahoochee Pumping Station was built on a bluff at the confluence of the Chattahoochee and Peachtree Creek in Northwest Atlanta. The original station was steam-powered by four boilers and had a pumping capacity of 20 million gallons a day. Today, the computer controlled, manually operated station is capable of pumping over 200 million gallons of water per day to the Hemphill Reservoir and Chattahoochee Water Treatment Plant.
